Re: Original Condensers
I have 2 original Ford script condensers for the Model "A." Both are zinc plated.

Re: Original Condensers
I'm sure this would be for show purposes. The old condensers from the day would likely be deteriorated beyond use with the materials they had available at the time. Most condensers from the early days were likely used up. Ford would have made replacement parts for some time after the change over to the V8. There certainly could be some old survivors out there but it would be hard to insure their authenticity.

Re: Original Condensers
So what are some key factors/features to look for to signify that one is looking at an original Model A Ford condenser?

Re: Original Condensers
My all original 29 fordor has an original with the guts replaced with a new film type .2 uF axial capacitor inside. The original outside shell is not black enamel. It is a dull nickel finish. Although, I have never sanded the finish to see what it is really made of since I want the patina on there.

Re: Original Condensers
I believe those early condensers (as well as some other items) were made from nit seeds, which are highly sought after by nitpickers!
