Default '36 pickup floor mat

I need to replace the rubber floor mat in my pickup, the current mat was from C+G and is a "cut to fit"-it worked fine and looked good, but over the years has gotten cracked and tattered.I saw this old post from Jerry Grayson,

https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...ckup+floor+mat

which said the mat was "tan with a starburst pattern"-never heard that before. Does any one know if that was that the case for all '36 pickups? Lawson?

I see a cut to fit mat listed by Joe's Antique Auto Parts, anyone have experience with that item?

Thanks,

Adam

Adam, All 1935 and early 36 (thru Dec 35) pickup floor mats were tan colored. After Dec the mats were black. The pattern on the mat was a splatter/starburst (model A style).

Adam this isn't exactly an answer to your question but a couple of years ago, the mat in our '36 was so tattered I tried to buy a replacement and couldn't find one. We went to Farm and Fleet and bought a piece of work station rubber mat and cut it to fit. It works fine.

The mat in the truck may have been an original, I couldn't swear to it but it was OLD and like a fool I tossed the pieces all away. Looking back, I should have kept some of them. It was so fragile when you went to pick it up it actually fell into pieces. That mat had a ribbed pattern with a border as I recall, and was actually very thin. Possibly was a replacement mat dating to maybe the 40's or early 50's, something like from Western Auto.

I was at the Model A Ford day in Sharon, Wi. a few years ago and a guy there had a very nicely restored '35 pickup with a real nice looking made to fit floor mat. He told me that his mat came from Obsolete Ford Parts in Oklahoma. It looked great. I called them at that time and they said they no longer carried them, that 'sorry some guy from Wisconsin got the last one we had'

Adam I used one from Joes in my 39 pkp. I only had to make cut for pedals and shifter. Sunshine

Would the interior to a 36 truck be all black as well?

Thanks for the responses. Don, I did see a mat on one of the model A sites with a starburst pattern (at least I think that's what it is) but I'm sure it would not fit a '36.

Adam, Unfortunately no one is making a mat for 35 or 36 pick ups. You will have to find a later mat and make it fit.

I made my own mat out of some generic rubber mat material I found at Tractor supply. Works for me.
