marvel carburettor on my Model A
I have a problem when fuel tap is on carb does not leak but as soon as I try to start it I have fuel pulsing out the float bowl vent hole. It never use to do this when been used 10 years ago when I was regularly using it
I have checked float as thought needle might be sticking , replaced gasket between bowl and top and cleaned carb out. If its needlle valve sticking open would it not flood and fuel flow out into airbreather ? Is this the reason when I try to start fuel is coming out vent hole. It is thanks to Jeff in another post that I was able to establish my carb is a marvel. Any thoughts would be much appreciated .Wade |

Also check the float were the needle valve rubs. Sometimes there is a divot, and this will make the float stick and leak. If there is a divot, sand it flat.

Re: marvel carburettor on my Model A
not sure if it was right thing to do but last time it was out i put float into a bucket of water pushed it down and rotated it around. No sign of bubbles. This should Do the trick for holes in float?
I have carb out of car, i actually left fuel on last night and had fuel in tray under car this morning so proves i was wrong and needle valve is not cutting off flow which means i do have somewhere to start I blew into the fuel inlet when i thought it was level and could not blow any thing through. tilted it so that float would be down and could blow through inlet. Again this to me would show needle not sticking, or would blowing be more force than fuel just running in? so will recheck tomorrow to see if old31 answer may be problem as i did not turn fuel off last night and to day there was a pile of fuel under car in tray so guess needle valve did not close off , so will redo hole in float again Any other thoughts much appreciated and many thanks Last edited by wadeyboy; 08-26-2023 at 01:50 AM. |
