Model A on a two post lift
I pulled into my son's shop yesterday to change thethe oil on my 30 Tudor and make use of his two post lift. But I didn't see an obvious way to seat the lift on the frame rails. Sure wasn't comfortable lifting via the radius rods. Have any of you used a lift like this, and if so, where do you position the arms? I ended up changing oil the old fashioned way: on the floor.

Re: Model A on a two post lift
i use the 12" adapters to catch the front frame rails just behind the engine pans. make sure you feed them around the brake rods when setting up and taking off. on the back i set the pads on the rear radius arms witn no adapter or on the rear rails with 12" adapters. again watch the brake rods and exhaust. either way the frame does give alot of flex if you shake it around to much. i prefer my drive on 4 post but depends on the job

Here's how they used to do it in the old days:

Some of the lifts do not have provisions to lift our As, --or trucks, some lifts have "truck" adapters --they should work to get frame contact. |

Re: Model A on a two post lift
One of our club members made some adapters to lift a Model A on his two post lift. They work under the front and rear axles. Nice job.

Not to get off topic but notice those stands in the background of the old photo with the ball on them.... wonder what they were used for?

Re: Model A on a two post lift
I blew the picture up and noticed there are 2 balls on each stand and they are "tied" together with a short link. No idea what they were used for.

Re: Model A on a two post lift
I imagine they are jack stands and the balls go on either side of the front axle so it doesn't slip off the top of the stand.
