Default Heater motor for parts?

Anyone have a junk late 39/40 ish heater motor beyond use? I have a couple Ford Script 40 heaters that I need little parts for. Mainly the seregated clip/ring that holds the bearings in place. Someone evidently had one of these apart, lost the ring and tried to RTV the bearing in place, and it spins in case.

Could also use a little clip that wires from outside case and brush wires solder to.

I'll use the NAPA motor described in past posts if I must, but would be nice to find original two speed parts.

Also, does anyone know the thrust movement that is correct for these motors? Lots of washers on shaft to adjust.

Thanks,

Gordon

Lawson - I searched and found: "NAPA part number for heater motor replacement #655 1022". I think this is for '40. Search for "heater motor" with the quotes or user:
Dave in WYO

Adelio - Where did you send it?

Thanks, Gordon

Mal - I looked that part up @ napa. It appears to be 12 volt, mine is 6 volt. Also a question, our cars are positive ground - napa is not - how would that work?

I took my motor to a place here locally in NJ.

thanks Andy

One of the old posts I found says:

FYI, the NAPA 12 volt motor # is 6551022, 6 volt # is 6551021.
Most DC motors will run either way depending on what you use for ground.....

Malpais, The NAPA motors are just a wee bit too long for a 39 or 40 heater. They are reversable, which is good. They will fit 42 - 48 heaters, and maybe 41 heaters. ??? I was going to buy a NAPA motor until I found out the dimensions, and then measured the room in the heater. Seems like the new motor was about 1/4" too long for the 40, if I remember right. I know that doesn't answer your original question. There should be some place out there that can rebuild or at least get the parts you need. ?? Best of Luck!! I need a rebuildable 39-40 heater motor.

Dave,

Thanks for reply. Sorry for hijacking your earlier thread, but it seemed useful to folks asking questions about my question.......

I have several heaters, but all seem to have a little bit wrong with them.

If I figure an extra one out, I'll let you know.

Makes me wonder though, if the '55 T-bird motor on Epay would work. Sounds like "NOT" since you found '41+ seem to be longer.

Maybe the internal parts are the same.....

Malpais, No problem about my thread. Glad you could use it!! I doubt a newer motor would do much good, unless you are just looking for parts. The newer motors are probably not reversable motors, but I don't know that for sure. The heaters were built different and didn't need to reverse the motor for defrosters. ?? I think through 48 were all reversable motors, but I got a feeling in 49 all that changed. I had a 51 Vicky years ago, but don't recall it reversing for defrosters. Best of Luck on finding the parts you need!!!

Dave , I managed to get the Napa 12 v to fit my heater box by extending the sheet metal case by the 1/4" , looks fine. Easy to do

Aquarosco, Any pictures of your project, showing how you did it?? I don't really want to alter anything on the heater, if I don't have to, but I have given thought to it.
Thanks for the info!!!
