Default Paint Color Question

I am trying to match the interior paint color on my '56 Victoria. I notice that many people use the exterior color on the interior. My car is light blue/white but the interior is a darker metallic blue. I know the exterior code id DE which is "diamond blue"/colonial white but how do I identify the interior paint? Any help would be appreciated... I am getting the car cleaned up after many years in storage and it is starting to look better...

take a piece of the trim to an auto body supply let them take a picture of it to match the color due to the age this will give you the best match

Try looking at Dupli-color #T257. Its a pretty close match to that dark metallic blue they used on the interior (if you don't need it to be exact, and you are re-doing all the pieces). The bottom half of the dash is the same color as the top of the dash without the metal-flake. Don't know how to help you there, since Dupli-color doesn't offer that. Dupli-color is found at most chain auto parts stores on the rack in fan-spray paint cans. If your car sits out in the sun, the paint will start flaking off in about ten years. Thus, I have taken my interior apart and re-done it three times, but it is cheap as long as your willing to put in the labor.

Yes that sounds right on your 56 Ford. My outside was two tone blue and the inside was a metallic blue. This is correct way it left the factory.

BOSSY, that sure is a beautiful Parklane you have. Does it still have the original T-Bird 292 or 312 in it ? Sal

I'm not sure this post will help but maybe it will be of interest.

I looked for interior paint codes for quite a while for my '56 Parklane (not nearly as nice as Bossy's!). I ran across DuPont's historical paint library. It has some information on interior paint codes. One of my interior colors is a "medium metallic green" which falls between the two exterior colors. The second interior color in my car matches the lighter of the two exterior colors.

While I found some information at this site, I could not find anyone to interpret the interior paint code. I ended up taking my glove box door into the paint shop and they did a great job matching the color I wanted. If anyone needs a paint code for medium metallic green let me know -- I thought it worked well for me.

Here is the link to DuPont's library. I found the interior code information on the third 1956 Ford link (001921). I didn't see a blue interior color listed.

No, it's now powered by a 302/AOD combo, and it looks better in person than in the pics.

Thanks Mike. I will try to have it matched. My dash looks nice so I don't want to repaint everything.
