I am about to install the windshield in my 33 Tudor. My 2 original hinge brackets are covered with surface rust and can't tell if they were painted or plated. I do have a pair of reproduction brackets that are chromed that I think got from Drake a few years ago. Does anybody know what was the original color on a Tudor Deluxe? Thanks!

I would assume they are black as they were screwed on. Could have possibly been body color, but I don't think so. I know they were not chromed.

The inside portion of the '33 deluxe closed car windshield frames were painted black, including the hinges, presumably to minimize glare from reflections off the chrome in the driver's field of vision.

Way back when these and others ruled the roads, we did many, all makes, and I can not remember any hinges that were plated or painted cause they were in a protected area. In fact
we just removed a 34 windshield frame looked flat black and hinge's
are in the raw... no paint nothing...

Thank you, very helpful. I will clean and paint my original brackets and mount them this week. I found one photo of a cabriolet in the 33-34 restoration book that is chromed but none of a closed cars.

Manuel,

All of the '33 deluxe models had chrome-plated windshield frames, including the coupes and sedans. The standard models had body-color painted windshield frames.
