These came with my LeBaron Bonney kit. Are they supposed to be painted brown or chrome?

I got the same door strap plates with my 29 phaeton upholstery kit. I am sure they are not supposed to be chrome - it is possible they might have been nickel plated. I took a picture of Dave Lopes fine point 1928 phaeton at the 2010 French Lick MARC meet. The picture is below. I would think his plates would be correct as his car was a Henry winner. Unfortunately the upholstery color changed between 1928 and 1929, so for my car, the color might be different. Hopefully someone will post a response on what color or finish they should be they should be.

They are painted brown as the straps were with nickel screws
