I couldn't be happier with work Al did for me (2021). He basically did all of the testing and machine work on the block and supplied many of the parts including the nice Mercury crankshaft and a stock flywheel re-drilled for the 10" clutch. No lengthy delays like you sometime get with this kind of stuff.. Ken

Hey Ken . . . sorry to hear about the car, but most importantly you're going to be okay (it could have been so much worse!). Thanks for posting this - hopefully somebody gets a good deal on this. Take care, heal fast!

Ken, so sad to read about your accident. Hope you recover soon with minimal pain!

Here is the deal with CoPart. You have to be a registered Auto dealer by the state to walk in the lot. It's Not open to the public. So, your local auto transporter can be your agent, and you will have to pay round-trip on top of the bid. There is a CoPart lot down the street here in Marlboro. If you know a transporter, you could bid thru him/her and get the engine back...for penny's on the dollar. It would be shame if you can't recover that after all time, effort AND pain you put in.
Best of luck in the future. JPL

The lot and bidding policies will vary by state. In Iowa, for example, a private individual can bid on lots. I've walked my local Copart's lot and bid on vehicles in the past.

Unfortunately, in New York where this particular auction is taking place one would need to be a dealer/dismantler or broker in order to bid. That said, Copart does have a broker market through which one can find a broker in order to bid on this lot.

Thanks Mike, it does look like a dealer, dismantled, or broker is needed to bid unfortunately. Bidding is at $550 right now with about 24 hrs left to go. Ends Aug 21 at 10am EST… Ken

Ken, Any chance you could find a broker and still bid on your own car to get the engine back?

I thought about it but decided not to pursue because I don’t have space on my property to store and part out the wreck. Hopefully the engine finds a new home other than a scrap/recycling center…. Ken

I'm not sure, copart.com is weird. It bid up to $775 I think and the auction was supposed to end this morning at 10am. I think the seller reserve was not met. Now there's a new auction going with an end date of Monday Aug 28...

Regarding CoPart Minimum Bid:
Clicking on the add reveals that:
"The Seller has placed a reserve price on the lot. If the minimum bid is not surpassed during the virtual auction the Seller has until 8:00 PM PST one business day after the sale to accept the bid."
