Installing Turn Signals
How difficult is it to install Turn Signals to the Model A? I ordered a 6 Volt Turn Signal Kit and 4 Turn Signals (LED) from Mac's. Haven't got them yet.

Re: Installing Turn Signals
My hardest part was I had a flasher that was not LED friendly. Meaning that the LED's did not provide enough resistance to make it flash. Got resistors from ebay and it worked.
Next problem was that it doesn't self cancel so I had to put buzzers in too. |

Re: Installing Turn Signals
Was it all easy to install? Is there a good installation manual? What extra wire is needed? Sorry for all the questions, but I am searching for the answers. Perhaps you can help?

Re: Installing Turn Signals
I used the two signals you have but a brakelighter in the back window instead of the two back ones but it was all easy to wire.
The wires from the switch only came part way down the steering column so I crimped extra wire on to reach to reach an A-Plate sold by Brattons, that is were I put the flasher. I zip tied the wire from the LED's up to the column or the A-Plate as needed. |

Re: Installing Turn Signals
You should not have any issues. I got mine directly from led lights .com just a little over two hundred. Lights, wire.module. connections. Has 4 way flasher, lights are bright and work well, a good investment, and perfect instructions, just take your time and good luck. Dutie

Re: Installing Turn Signals
The one I purchased came with a wiring diagram , I just followed it no problems. I installed separate lamps for each front and rear. I just used the power from the battery to power it.

Ford1930,
Don't you just HATE it, when someone told you WHAT you SHOULD have bought? You clearly told him WHAT you ordered & just wanted advice!--Posts like that are NO HELP! I had one like you describe & it came with GOOD Instructions. It's NOT a BAD job to install it. Let us know when you have it working. Bill W.

Re: Installing Turn Signals
Put this buzzer on it and you won't forget, I even covered it with tape to cut down on the annoying sound. Less than a buck on eBay.

Re: Installing Turn Signals
Adding the turn signals is a good decision.
Easy to install. Hardest part, is taking your time to route the wiring. SO... My advice, take your time routing the wiring, if you wire it nice the first time, you'll be much happier with the final product.

Re: Installing Turn Signals
Yo' Sacramento Neighbor,
BUT, a Model A is still easier to operate than a Model T, I never DROVE/RODE in a "T", but I "heard" you have to be a MAGICIAN to make one GO Bill Awkward

Re: Installing Turn Signals
I bought a couple of these, 6 or 12 volt w/beeper, one worked on 6V, the other didn't, so they sent a replacement that works.

Re: Installing Turn Signals
Be aware that over the years the wiring has probably been worked on. Color coding has probably changed. Routing has also been changed. Some diagrams are wrong to begin with. Get your kit from a supplier that you can talk too about any problems.
