Re: NH Carb question
One good thing to do is to remove the brass plugs and clean those passageways. Then replace the plugs with brass rod. I'm sure the reference above tells more of how this is done.

Re: NH Carb question
Most all the T parts dealers carry the book suggested above. There is really not that much to do the NH. If you have a copy of the The Model T Service Manual everything is in it. You really should have a copy of at least the Model T Service Manual if you are going to work on a T.

Re: NH Carb question
Another plug choice for the carb passageways are brass wood screws of the appropriate size. Slightly bevel the end and apply a little permatex gasket sealer and "away you go." The NH Carb is one of the best carbs for the Model T. ED

Re: NH Carb question
Bob, get a Langs old car parts catalog on page 109 has a great exploded view of the NH with parts break down and description. 15/64th is the magic number for the float level position.
Murray Fahnestock's The model T ford owner is a wealth of T knowledge. In section two on page 185 is care and adjustment of the NH and page 194 is repairing the NH. This book fills in the gaps were other publications fail or confuse to explain, good luck. Scott Last edited by 39portlander; 01-12-2018 at 06:19 PM. |

Re: NH Carb question
Before a rebuild make sure you have a good core. I took a bare carb, blasted it, painted it only to find the spray valve threads were stripped out when the new parts came in. Felt dumb after that mistake.
