Default Merry CHRISTmas....And Time to Change the Avatar

ALL: It is that glorious time of year, so submitted herewith is my annual contribution. However, to complete the subject line: the '31 Slantwindow and the '47 PU in the avatar have both gone to different collectors: the '31 to South Mississippi and the '47 to a very nice fellow from Illinois: so, which of the remaining toys to insert..........?? While pondering that, ponder this:

T'was the night before Christmas, and out in the shed,
the '47 fatfender was covered, from its toes to its head.
And I had just sampled hot chocolate, you know why,
Hoping that Ol' Santa soon would come by.

Flathead owners were nestled all snug in their beds,
While Shelby race cars danced in their heads.
I and my Loved One, forever to keep,
Had both snuggled up for a long winters sleep.

When out on the streets there came such a roar,
I sprang from my bed to see what was in store!
I flew to the window and opened the blind,
Not knowing at all, what I would find!

The moon on the pavement shown like daylight below,
As wonder and amazement made by eyes grow.
For down on the street approaching the stoop,
Came a jolly old man in a '32 three-window coupe.

This little old driver. so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be Saint Nick.
Faster than lightening, with engines he came,
and he honked and he flashed and called them by name:

Come small blocks, come big blocks, come flatheads, come Fuelies;
With Holleys, with Carters, both I=singles and duelies;
To the top of the tach, redline one and all,
Now rev'm up, rev'm up, we gotta haul!

Like a tank full of nitro will make a car fly,
When the blower is set up too high.
So up the driveway that smokin' '32 flew,
Loaded with parts and accessories too.

Red paint on the tin, such sparkle, such shine,
The lines smooth as silk, the leather so fine.
The wheels so wide, the tires so fat,
and "run-flat" design with no chance of a flat.

The tips of the pipes were shiny and clean,
The windows were smoked, the glass such a sheen.
With Features and options and power Galore,
And zero-to-sixty in just one-point-four.

And then from the drive, the sound of a cough,
Like that from a blower when the ignitions turned off.
He then set the brakes and twice flashed his lights,
Just as he does all Christmas Eve Nights.

He was dressed in red leather, with fur up above,
a new Shelby printed on his right driving glove.
Parts and accessories slung on his back,
a multitude more in the coupe in a sack.

He looked like Old Carol, a jolly old man,
With hair white as snow, a Miami tan;
Such gleam in his eye, such spring in his walk,
As quick as a cheetah, with eyes like a hawk.

He spoke not a word but went straight to work,
Opened the garage, with one quick easy jerk.
He left us new wheels, the ones that won't hinder,
And a new Super Charger to speed up Ol' Fatfender.

He sprang to his coupe, threw his sack in the rear,
Brought up the revs, and dropped it in gear.
And I heard him call out as he peeled out of sight:
To all you Flatheaders, "Drive Safely!" "Good Night!"

Margretha and I wish each of you a Most Merry Christmas, and a Happy, Healthy and Blessed New Year!.

40Cpe - Gene - yes, that is one of the two that I bought from her: I am keeping the other one (Ol' Clyde, the '29 CCPU); have sold five of the eight WWII and Korean war vintage Jeeps with two more Jeeps to sell; a '66 Mustang Convertible and a '68 Mustang Convertible to find new homes - will still leave several other toys, but at least a manageable bunch! (Of Course, always looking..........maybe a Cobra??)

Bob NH: I confess to having a complete blank concerning the serial number (although my long-suffering wife will tell you that a "complete blank" is standard fare for me!). Please email [email protected] and tell me how I have failed you - I shall immediately rectify my shortcoming!

Pity that the 47 Ford Pick-up is gone. I first saw it in 2009 at the Central V8 Nationals in Auburn, see above picture. I am sure that you will find a nice replacement. It was a absolute pleasure meeting you at Lake Tahoe in 2013. Marcus, a Merry CHRISTmas to you & Margretha ! Trevor and Pam

Cecil/WV: The current future plans include Auburn, albeit probably in a non-flathead powered vehicle (maybe one of the Mustang Convertibles or the Truckstang) unless I discover another toy that I just can't live without!

Seth - The girls will old enough this year that Santa will be a real deal! Envy you that, as ours are all scattered to the four winds!

Mercman - I assure you we also treasure our visit at Lake Tahoe; the picture of you and Ms. Pam adorn our refrigerator - my daughter calls it a "happy 'fridge." The '47 went a fine Christian fellow from Illinois who will treasure him!

JM 35: have not decided which of the toys for the avatar - but how goes the build for the not-so-new rims?
