I'd replace it with a solid state version. It will last forever.

Hello too all at Ford Barn, am i wrong to be out of the old class?.Is it wrong to want a (vibrator ) for an old Ford car radio. Is all the old car radio vibrators (GONE) from off the planet?. I am not against progress, or solid state but i want the old type vibrator. If some one has a 6 volt 4 pin vibrator please let me know ok. The price and shipping on it, i will appreciate it very much.

Hi Randall:
I make a really great Solid State Radio vibrator that is in destructible. Unlike the vibrators from AAR, this one is state of the art. Many customers have bought these units and they are available for 6 to 16 volts either + or - Ground. See my e-bay ad under Antique Radio Solid State Vibrators or call me at 909-822-5082. they are $34.95 + shipping and guaranteed to work.

Randall:

The answer is NO you are not wrong! They are out there, the search is half the fun. Some times you can take then apart and clean the points.

Hi Roy, you are so right. I have opened up around 4 or 5 vibrators and cleaned the points and had no luck. I guess they were to far gone. But i thank you for the information.

The points in vibrators are made of Tungsten and are very hard to file and restore. I recycle the old vibrators by putting in a very reliable MOSFET circuit that I have designed. This circuit will operate on 6 to 16 to 32 volts and is available for Positive and Negative ground vehicles. These devices are indestructible and customers are very happy with them installed in a radio Let me know your interest.
