Default 34 air cleaner

I think it was on here that a while back some one showed how he fitted a modern element into the old filter.
I have had a look but could not turn anything up

Hey Pete great looking setup but how much air does it actually flow .Have seen some good looking setups but when you get into the nitty gritty they just dont work and clog like no tomorrow. Laurie does a lot of dirt work so a filter has to work but also has plenty of reserve thats a governing factor he [like me ] dosent need to stop and clean an airfilter every 4 hours Not having a go at you but in aus we deal with a whole different set of challenges

I will settle for a KN filter for the time being, I want to go away in the 34 in the next month so I will forgo the bad looking filter as long as it works, and will try and sort out the original one to take a modern filter, My 33 has a slightly different original filter and is an easy fit with a modern element inside, if I had one of the 33 style it would be OK even if not correct.

Lawrie, What I do with the original 35-36 aircleaners [twin carbs], same as what is pictured above, on my heap, is use black stockings [I raid my wife's undies drawer], and stretch them over the aircleaner, lift, twist, push down again, hold in place, lift, twist, etc, ultimately ending up with multiple layers of fine hosiery mesh encircling the original mesh element. Catches a lot of dirt. Easy to replace when too dirty. Double protection, like the Irishman wearing two condoms; to be sure to be sure.

Lawie, I gutted the oil bath filter on my ‘41 and took it to my local NAPA auto parts store,
The parts guy dragged out a big catalog and took a bunch of measurements and came up with a filter that dropped right in.
