Default 1940 windshield divider bar install

I have installed new windshield rubber on my 40 coupe windshield glass.
I now need to install the windshield divider bar.
Looking for hints for best install for no leaks.
Is there a top or bottom on the stainless divider. I did not pay attention when I removed it. Both ends look the same to me.
What is the correct length of the 3 machine screws that are used to bolt the inner and outer divider together.
I had ordered replacment divider screws from 2 different suppliers and they are two diferent lengths. One is half the size of the other.
Thaks Tom.

Here's a thread with photos that may help.
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...ld+divider+bar
When I installed my bar I first installed sealant (not silicone) on the surfaces of the rubber that fit underneath the divider bar. As I recall there is a lap joint where the divider sits.
I don't recall the screw length.
Hopefully other will chime in. JIM

Here's another thread that talks about the divider bar. Scroll down and read each post carefully.

I used a piece of angle iron and bolted it in place of the divider bar so I could squeeze the overlapping rubber together for a couple of days. The divider bar went on a lot easier and take a measurement of the screw hole depth so you don't put in too long of a screw and bulge the divider bar.

If working alone a ratchet strap around the pillars and across the windshield will hold the outer divider bar in place while trying to get the screws started.
