Default cowl vent hinge

Would anyone have fix for a stuck cowl vent hinge on a 37 open car ? I guess I could drill out rivets and replace with bolts. I've soaked hinge for days, no luck. Thanks for any help.

If 37 is anything close to 33-34 on this the rivets should be well out on arms away from the cowl . Cover all you don't want to bother with damp towels and you should be able to do this without hurting anything .

I have used the melted wax method on lots of stuff and it usually works. Put candle wax on the hinge rivet and heat it up with a heat source. The heat will draw the wax into all the crevices and break the rust hold it has on them.

Remove the bolts that attach the cowl vent door to the hinge. Then remove the lever note the assembly of all parts or take photos with digital camera. You want to strip the mechanism down to the basics because the assembled parts add additional tension to the hinge. Then see if the hinge will move and lube well.
