Silly brake pedal question. Maybe?
On my 39 Ford Coupe I’m trying to lengthen the brake pedal pad. Does anyone know the thread of the pad and pedal. A 9/16 NF nut fits the pedal (loosely) and tightens, but a 9/16 NF bolt will not thread into the pedal assembly.
Any thoughts? Thanks Tom |

Are bolt threads buggered up on the end?

OR Use something like this: https://www.alliedelec.com/product/f...B&gclsrc=aw.ds Here's an interesting thread about history of brake/clutch pedal design. Also verifies 1/4 in. pipe thread use. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303575 Last edited by 19Fordy; 09-09-2021 at 09:15 AM. |

Re: Silly brake pedal question. Maybe?
Thanks guys. Who would have thunk it that they would use pipe thread? Yep, it is.

Re: Silly brake pedal question. Maybe?
Pipe threads are tapered which makes it mush harder if not impossible to loosen under foot. You would never want the pedal to come loose while driving or shifting.
