replacing the top on a '28 Sport Coupe
The top on our car will need replacing in the near future (probably next spring), and I'm already thinking about some color besides white. Probably not black though, as black would be hot in the summer. I don't think that the gray color on the body is an exact match for the original gray available in 1928, not sure though. The interior is also not restored to original , I suppose. Some of these things I might change back to original as time and budget allow. I know the pinstriping is not as it would have been originally, but it was already on the car. I wonder about a gray top? Or just go with black and not worry about it? I just don't really like the white, unless it "grows on me" and maybe I'll learn to like it before the time comes to replace it.

Personally, I do not care for colors other than close representations of an original material simply because it appears like an after-thought to me. If you have the goal of making upgrades to more authentic color selections in the future, then I would opt for the Black material. Make yourself happy in whatever decision you choose.

tan might look good- That's what I would use. Top kits will come with the proper stiffener panels that make it look tight

You might want to replace your interior before replacing the top. Enjoy. |
