No relevance to Model A's but at work we have pulled a motor/tranny with all lines and wiring and then installed new motor/tranny hooked all lines and wiring poured oil and water and fired up in 20 mins! that was Darlington 2010!!

Did you use a Sky Crane?

No Just a air powered hydraulic crane. We change motors quite regular at work. We run 3 trucks every race. That's 6 trucks at the track at all times. 6 motors every race week. Then if we blow up before qualifying we have to swap motors with a back up that is stored in the hauler. I remember it used to take me about 2 hours when I first started!

way back when an air force crew could (for airshows) change an eng in an f-80 in less than 15 mins. required splitting a/c entirely in two pieces. course they practiced a bit.

one of the Jacksonville Model A club members had recurring engine problems.
pulled the engine repeatedly- got so proficient he could have it out & on the engine stand in about 20 minutes.

not quite as quick as those European guys on the Youtube video! a fun exercise if you have a junker car and too much time on your hands :-)

Brent, Thanks for the idea about making line up dowels from bolts with no head. I had to switch engines in my 29 CCPU last night for the trip to Oshkosh in June. The job went great and the dowels came right out after bolting up the rest of the bolts.
