Re: how to change throw out bearing on throw bearing hubhub
It's a slight press fit. To remove, I've place the hub in open vise jaws with the bearing overlapping the tops of the jaws. Using a driver that matches the hub diameter, I drive it down with a few hammer whacks. The old bearing should come off easily.
To reinstall, I've placed the new bearing on the hub and butt it against a piece of 2X4. Using the vise again, I close it against the 2X4 and it will press on. Once done, make sure it is seated square and on fully. Using the old one as reference, you'll be able to tell if the new one is on all the way. Change the return spring while your at it as well. Others may have different methods, but this way has worked for me. |

Use a leather hammer or block of wood when hammering it off or on. Don't knock it through and drop it on the concrete floor. I do things like that once in a while.

Some may say you need to use a press. A vise is a press. |
