Taylor Merrill in the '29 Roadster is an old friend of mine whom I have not seen for awhile. I was in Newnan, greeted him, shook his hand upon arrival. This is Taylor's 15th Great Race in his '29 Roadster. Jim Langley...

Wasn't Mr. Taylor the Dairy Queen owner? Also, I believe his son Todd was very instrumental in developing the electronic speedometers that we used on the GR. When we first started in the GreatRace, we were using Jones tachometers and making a new face to show MPH. Those were extremely difficult to calibrate and make linear. Re: Great American Race
It is a great, and challenging event. I had the opportunity to participate twice in the 90s back when it was coast to coast. It is tough on the people and the cars. We drove a Model A, as did about 25% of all competition. 400-500 miles a day for 13 days! Great fun.
