6 volt alt
Looking for a 6 volt alternator for a 42-48 block. Either a plain nalt or one that looks like a generator.

Re: 6 volt alt
Some tips: 1 the cheapest Is buy the bracket for a one wire Delco 6 volt pos grd. or I prefer the 6 volt Powermaster more expensive that looks original. #2 it must be for a 1942 to 1948 the later 49 to 1953 will not line up with belts without some machining . #3 the 6 volt pos grd Powermater must be grounded so we put a ground wire on the rear bolt Alt to a nut on the carburetor (due to the case being black power coated) (4) whatever one you chose we feed the one wire from alternator (the former generator armature wire) == now on the regulator remove this wire marked ARM to the Battery terminal on the regulator which now the remaining former Generator wires and voltage regulator is now dead = we are just using the regulator as a terminal board so if system is put back to a generator wiring is still there (but now dead). The reason for this is for the alternator charge current will flow through the original system (amp meter so no cutting wires no hacking etc. The instructions usually state to run a wire ALT to the power side of the battery which works but your amp meter will not work, that is for vehicles with a Volt Meter....got it! LOL sam
