Default My 1962 ford front end rebuild has fallen short...

Greetings My 62 Ford Galaxie's front end has been completely rebuilt ( same springs though) with new parts. The car tracks straight and stops straight (not well), but bangs around like a old shopping cart over small bumps or Railroad tracks. Seems like I should have a smoother ride for a new front end.. Am I spoiled by the ride of all my regular cars, or might there be a problem. Again, Front end has been inspected without finding any problems. Thank you.

A very popular upgrade is using the Ford Aerostar coil springs which is a progressive rate spring these will improve ride and handling they will also lower the car about 2 1/2" a lot of guys in my Ford Group used them these are the ones you would want: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moog-Chassis...RYZ~cs&vxp=mtr If you do not want the car lower this is an EZ solution as these come in various thicknesses http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...-isolators.asp These shocks are the best to use with the combo: http://www.ebay.com/itm/KYB-Gas-a-Ju...lZAnPw&vxp=mtr

Did you check your body mounts? Make sure both radiator support mounts are good. Did you replace the upper control arm pivots in addition to the control arm bushings? Check both motor mounts and the tranny mount. And lastly did you grease the ball joints? Best of Luck!

The 1957 - 1964 Ford Full Size Lower Ball Joints are NOT commonly available.... they could very well be WRONG and are banging, clanging
around in there!!!
I would definitely have everything looked at / inspected -- and if you need
the CORRECT lower ball joints, I have them (and everything else!!!)

Coil springs have no moving parts, so they will never wear out. But they sure do loose the ability to support a car, replace them ASAP.

Radial tires in place of bias ply type will certainly make a tame "sweetheart" out of a car that has solid suspension, yet is still a handful. DD

Check the air pressure, it may be excessive. Somewhere around 28 to 32 psi is good. I run 30 on the front of my '59 with 15" radials. Make sure the springs are seated properly. If they are out of the pocket up top, they'll rub on the spring pockets, you'll see shiny spots. Make sure the sway bar links are not loose or have bad bushings. Did someone remove the suspension stops? There should be 1 on both upper a-arms. Look for a loose idler arm, those can make a racket. Like someone else suggested, look at the upper control arm bushings and make sure the lower a-arms are tight.
