Stipe Model A Shocks
Right now Bill Stipe is not making Model A Shocks but as I understand it when I called his office last month they were making a list of who wants the new shocks. In January he will make a decision on production. I would wait awhile before buying the ones on ebay that are making someone a profit.

Re: Stipe Model A Shocks
Oldredford,
While I don't have Stipe shocks on my car yet, let's hope he continues producing them as many on the forum have commented on their quality. Your last sentence is a little confusing. Maybe you meant to say someone on Ebay is making an unfairly high profit. The fact that someone is making a profit is the only reason anything is for sale anywhere. I don't know why, but perhaps Bill stopped production because his operation was not making sufficient profit for him to continue. Nobody sells things to break even or to lose money. Glen

Re: Stipe Model A Shocks
How many miles can one get from Bill's shocks before they need attention?
How well do work compared to the modern tube shocks the suppliers sell? |

2) They probably work about 2X as good as the tube shocks the suppliers sell. Tell me whose tubular shocks can be adjusted for the precise type of ride and road conditions someone is going to drive on. |

Re: Stipe Model A Shocks
My 29 Tudor has unrestored original shocks that still work fine after over 100,000 miles. I'm sure Stipe's will last as long. At least way past most of our driving years!

Re: Stipe Model A Shocks
I have used Koni adjustable shocks on various cars since 1969. Personally I like stock shocks or Stipe shocks on A's.
Note the VW Fastback/Squareback (Type 3) is about the same weight as Model A. Koni still lists these as available on their website. Several folks I know have used these adjustable tube shocks on A's. Last edited by Benson; 12-22-2014 at 09:43 PM. |
