Default What is this part?

Is anybody familiar with this part? Yes, I know what it claims to be, but how does it work, and is it worthwhile?

Looks like a gimmick. If it is only one you could buy it and see how it compares with the standard one on the other side

That's sorta what I figured. it makes no sense, unless it boosted the voltage, as in a transformer, but it's too tiny for that!

Neat item, he only has one. Have never seen one before. I can see how it would change the brightness of the head light. But I don't understand how it would "improve" it.?? As we use the adjustment screw on the back of the head lamp to pull the assembly rearward for optimum brightness; this gadget sets the bulb more forward in the headlight assembly.
Ok guys, please "en-lighten" me as well.

It says it is only used in the right hand headlight; they must be wired in series and not parallel? I still can't figure what it does.

It looks to me like it goes where the conduit plugs into the headlight body...between the ferrule and the body. I thought that maybe it improves that connection with some stronger springs in the device, but since it only goes on the right headlight, that isn't it.

It would be interesting to read the actual instructions or patent info.

I have a similar gadget and posted about it a few months ago. It's for Model T's with magneto headlights. Mine is a black box with three wires, and as I recall it cuts out one light so all the power goes to the other headlight.

BTW, the screw on the rear of the headlamp will adjust the focus but not change the brightness. My folks had a meter to measure brightness for the old movie camera settings, and I wish I could find it.

Here's the link to my gadget.

Yes Tom, you are correct. The screw on the back of the headlight is for focus. My mind to hand typing and thinking all at same time, doesn't always word out correctly... But I know what I was thinking..lol Jeff

Thanks for the link, Tom; your gadget seems to be just another way of accomplishing the same thing? Not much use for it today though.

What with the time difference between here and there, I came to this thread late. When I first saw it, I figured it was a globe socket which allowed the focus to be adjusted. As for "Intensifying" it, well truthfulness in advertising standards have changed.

Total fire ban here tomorrow - no light in the open whatsoever. I won't be able to smoke it.

Here is a link to another one on e-bay that includes the instructions with it , and cheaper . the first one was listed last month for $14.99 with no bids . It is an interesting piece .
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLD-VINTAGE-...-/141818168997

Sorry , after reading the add again , you dont get the instructions with the item , only the socket , but you could print out the instructions from the add .
