Source for new Model A Camshaft
I have been unsuccessful in trying to get hold of Bill Stipe to get a new camshaft. The time difference between Australia and the US is definitely not helping my cause. I will keep trying to get in contact with him, but I am also wondering if anyone else makes new camshafts??
I know some of the model a vendors sell new touring camshafts ( I am guessing these are from Bill Stipe) but I am chasing something more like his new 340 Touring cam. Any help appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Source for new Model A Camshaft
I bought mine from Berts a couple months ago. They had them. In talking with a Stipe employee at the time they did not have any idea when they would be making any more. They were completely out..and were going to be for quite a while.

Most of the vendors sell Bill's camshafts. I bought mine from Snyders before I knew that Bill sold them directly. Oh, and the price at Snyders was the same as if I had bought it from Bill directly. (IB-330)

Doesn't Jim Brierley also make or grind cams?
I thought I also recently read where Pete also does cams. |

You are correct, in that, Jim B and Pete regrind and/or provide reground A/B cams. But, he asked regarding someone who makes NEW cams. B Stipe is the only NEW cam maker that I'm aware of. I would guess that there are others who also do so ? |

Maybe Pete will comment regarding Roto-Faze cams/blanks . As he has given us some good Roto-Faze equipment info in the past. BTW, regarding Pete...He has many decades of cam work and I sent him a NOS B cam in the past for his special touch, to match my B engine build. As he is a member here also, it wouldn't hurt to PM him for advice / help |

I made about 25 cam blanks after I found that Joe was having trouble making the blanks. I sold all of them and used a few myself. I would consider making another batch if I could get commitments for a good portion of the run. Mat'l 8620, '28 style (5 bearing) and full circle, this allows for changing the motor around to reversed port or firing order change. John

Re: Source for new Model A Camshaft
One of the nice things about a new cam is that you can usually order them with oversize cam bearing journals. This lets you line bore the cam bearing surfaces (no cam bearing, just iron) to make them round after they have worn themselves oblong over the years.
