Trunk Lid Latch Alignment
Sponsored Links (Register now to hide all advertisements)
Removed trunk, hand made trunk supports, & bumper brackets to paint same. Reinstalled bumper brackets, trunk supports, & metal trunk. Trunk lid off center at front; hence, latches are not aligned, & now necessary to pull trunk lid to one side so top lugs of both latches can engage in bottom parts of latches. Alignment? Trunk support bolt holes slightly oversized; hence, trunk supports can be adjusted slightly to align trunk lid. What to move where? 1. Get a Saran Wrap box or aluminum foil box with lid & place on a flat table. 2. Place & remove about a 1/8" thick shim under one (1) of the four (4) corners whereby lid on box moves each time a different corner is shimmed. 3. When lid moves in correct direction, one can "see" how to adjust trunk supports so latches are aligned. Hope this helps if one encounters same -- manila folder model of a four (4) door could also help to determine where to place body shims for proper door alignment. Last edited by H. L.
