Default 48 coupe- just wondering

I am rewiring my car just now and the wire that goes from one courtesy light to the other isn't fastened down anywhere (like to the underside of the roof). It's just hanging. My question is, how was the wire fastened or did it just lay between the roof and headliner?
Or how was it routed? I believe it is wired one light to the other because there is a switch on one side that I assume controls both lights.
Thanks.

I can't speak to how the wire under the roof was supported. Regarding the wiring layout, you are correct that the two pillar lights are wired in-series as shown in the attached Ford wiring diagram. In my 47 coupe the on-off slide switch is directly beneath the passenger side pillar light. I have seen those switches available as replacements or NOS. Dan

There's a cross over wire. I actually taped the crossover wire to the roof.

I taped mine to the inside of the roof and adhered a nice layer of insulation on next prior to installing the headliner. This keeps my interior MUCH cooler in the summer months.

Dan, The circuit is not wired in series. That is a term that applies to those old Christmas tree lights that all went out if just one bulb burned out. Dirtiest trick ever played on poor old Santa!

I believe that it runs up the A pillar and to the light on the passenger side. I found an old wire in my car like that.
