Default Car covers one last time

I washed a Cal. Car Cover Company custom car cover in a large tub washing machine yesterday, was slightly dusty from use, just wanted to clean it. Inside use car cover. 5 years old never washed before.

It literally fell apart. Looked like a herd of angry badgers went wild on the thing. Same thing happened to a car cover I had for the Mustang years ago, same company. Material looks like a paper towel type stuff, like one of those garage use throw away Scott towels only softer.

Moral of story: Save your money. Go to the Salvation Army, buy some old blankets and bed sheets, and just use that for a car cover. That's where I'm heading today. I'll never buy another car cover from one of those outfits again lesson learned. Plus it's bulky and a pain in the rear to fold and store.

I have had great luck with California Car Covers. I have 6 of them presently and never a problem. For dust I put them in a coin op dryer with dryer sheets and to wash I put them in laundramat large load washer.

Al, are you saying if your car covers are only dusty you just put them in a dryer and don't wash them? Or, do you wash them first then dry them?
I've had a California Car Cover for a few years on one of my cars and it's not at all dirty, it's just dusty. Thanks

Mr. Stallerl I do not wash dusty covers. I put them in a coin op large dryer with several anti static dryer sheets. Hope that helps !
