Default Out For A Drive In the Merc

Another recent video of starting up and driving the Merc under some stormy looking skies.

The most favorite aspect, I found, about the long hauling of my past, was seeing the wide open skies. I often said to myself if this or that view was committed to canvas, folks would remark "It never looks that way". Thanks for sharing a remarkable view.

We were discussing the Merc's family history tonight and I came up with this picture from about 1961 when it was still a fairly new car. Yes, that red haired kid is me. Some day I'm going back to park at that house and take a "then and now" picture.

Cool picture. It looks like a tornado coming behind the merc. Well tornadoes really suck but the picture is great.

Both of them. Great snow tires in the second. When people used them for transportation.

Then and now picture is a must.

Ralph: you have so many great pictures, you need to make a calendar out of them.

Great picture Ralph. I see the Merc has what we called "town and country" tyres, on the back.

Thanks. I need to do that one of these days.
And Graeme, I remember the old Goodyear Town and Country tires. They were a popular brand here and that could easily be what are on the Merc in the old photos. The Merc saw plenty of mud and snow driving in it's day so grip tires on the back were must. But no white walls as they cost extra and provided no benefit.
