'48 F1 questions
Howdy boys, couple of questions for you. What color was the oil pan on a '48 F1 239? The engine is red. And, can the "modern" (Full circle seal, rather than the rope type seal, which is from the Model A world) front crank seal be used on the 239, rather than the original rope? Thanks guys!

Re: '48 F1 questions
The trucks all used the red color in the earlier part of the Bonus Built years. They changed to green in the last part of the flathead era. The whole engine assembly less the accessories was one color so the pan was red too.

Re: '48 F1 questions
OK, thanks rotor. Did the engine get painted when completed, or were parts painted individually so the gaskets would be painted also?
Thank you sir! |

Re: '48 F1 questions
Ford used to paint all parts individually but that was back when Henry was still alive. I'm not sure about the 8BA era.
