Default FYI rear end

I just bought another Jeep Grand Cherokee rear axle. This was a99 unit with triangled suspension complete with disk brakes, wheels and Posi. THis and 3.73 gers. All for 150. It even has an aluminum centersection. Reason?? There isn't any market for them. On the last one I bought I stripped it of all suspension parts except for the roll bar and installed spring pads on it. I know most of you are stuck with the old banjo rear but some shoe boxes might just fit the bill they come in 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern. Just trying to save you a few bucks , on a good product.

Be CAREFUL.........I've heard of several late '90s Grand Cherokees, including my mom-in-law's and an ex-boss', that have a nasty habit of eating rear axle bearings, and with LOW mileage, to boot! DD

Not sure, fit's under a grand Cherokee. But I'll measure it tomorrow.

That era Grand Cherokee is 63.5" wheel surface to wheel surface. Pretty wide.

Are you sure about "grand"? I have a 2000 Cherokee sport as a daily and I would use my rear in an old car in a heartbeat! Most of these jeeps hit the 200k mark, mine is at 176k.

My daily is a 03 GC. Currently putting on about 2500 per mo, or 30K per year. No problems, including the rear end. Coop has me curious though. I'll be asking about axle bearing history at my local parts source.
Almost unrelated... I also have a CJ-7, which DOES have rear axle issues - about the smallest axle bearings I've ever seen.
