My smile for the day!
Yesterday I had the extreme pleasure of participating in a drive by birthday parade honouring a 100 year old lady. Got my 29 Cabriolet all ready for the 20 mile trip. The drive by, wave and honk was of course necessary due to the virus regulations which would not allow the traditional large scale gathering. The event was a significant success. Afterwards I started on my journey homeward bound. As the journey came to a close I pulled into my farm driveway and the car immediately stopped. I knew gas tank was full so I thought possibly the problem was vapor lock or gas cap vent malfunction. After pushing the car into the barn we let car be until next morning. Next mornings attempted start was unsuccessful so we opened the hood. Much to our surprise our problem was very obvious. The oil can from the firewall had come loose and fell onto the fuse assembly located near starter and caused fuse to blow. New fuse was an easy fix. I am sure this may have happened before but never to me. Breakdown was soon forgotten and smiles returned to faces of all concerned.

Me too Keith but unfortunately with my physical disabilities I must solely concentrate on driving. Thanks for the comments.

Re: My smile for the day!
Good for you. One you made the birthday girl happy and two that it was a easy fix to get the car running again. Your REALLY lucky it happened in the driveway. Just curious though, did you have any fuses already with you on the road trip in case it would have happened away from home?

[B]Yes I had a package of fuses in the door pocket I also have an extra key in a magnetic container under the hood. That and a quart of oil and a set of points is the sum total of my emergency supplies.

Just think, that lady would have been about 9 years old when your car was built. |
