Red face Thing's happen for a reason...

Well again, I have to laugh @ myself. Mis-placed my 20 lug nut's for my wheels, have a habit of useing the PPG 32oz mixing cup's to store everything.

After several hours finally found my lug nut's, a missing dial caliper, two boxes of part's for my 39 that I forgot about ect, ect.

Time to Re-organize the garage, shed and basement

When you find stuff you thought you lost and find stuff you forgot about its like hitting the lottery.

My problem is remembering what I'm looking for.

I'm not quite like that but I merge into other projects....start looking for a part, look in the tool drawers..."Man I can't find anything in here" start emptying out and reorganizing...after two hours cleaning out the drawers and reorganizing... "where is my 9/16 deep socket" Oh yeah, I cracked it, I should run to sears to replace it while I am thinking about it... come home...see the car up on the jack stand and remember to look for the brake part....... {Go to beginning}

I have so much junk and parts it's sometimes easier to buy a new one than look through my junk. I have had people for years bring in boxes of parts, complete engines some with transmissions attached and just leave them. Some I never even looked in the boxes. Once in a while it's like Christmas when we open a few boxes. Same with tools I find myself studying what's in the drawers when looking for something to put some of the things back in the mental storage system. It's surpising find things I haven't seen for years. At least skip remembers where things are better than me. G.M.

I had to move a lot of stuff in the basement so I could paint walls. Found a 35 radio face light I had been looking for for over a year. Now how did that get there??? Looked for a 40 jack base for about 8 months and found it in a box with other parts. Most of the missing eventually turns up.

I lost a newly rebuilt temp gauge for my `35 and a NOS Unity fog light switch. Found them both right under my nose while looking for something else, but in separate places. Now if I could only find the keys to my gun safe that I put up for safe keeping....

Those plastic coffee cans are great to save (hide) parts in. They are big and mine are all Folger Red.

Several times Ive ordered a part I thought I had but couldnt find. Now that my resto is almost complete Ive been trying to sell off all the parts I duplicated over the 24 years Ive had the Cabriolet. The journey was GREAT!!

I have a model diorama of an old 57 chevy in a garage and I had two figures of a guy and gal to put in the display. They went missing and I couldn't find them for a couple years.
Fast forward to the 'garage clean-out' we all seem to get to every once in awhile. I decided to ditch some rubbermaid plastic cabinets and replace them with 3/4" plywood shelves. Moved one of the cabinets and found the figures on the floor behind the cabinet. Only thing I can figure is I must have set them on top and they got brushed off towards the back.

The best way to find a part or tool is go out and buy another one, take it back and put it away, whatever you are looking for is most likely there.

The important thing is exactly "what" they were doing back there when you found them. Maybe they wanted to be alone since every one in your shop can see what is going on in the back of the Chevrolet.

Cool diorama.

I find that if I notice something not where it belongd, I stop right then and put it back in its place.

At the end of my semi-annual garage clean out-6 rolls of duct tape and have located all but one socket thats been missing ssince the fall. Hard to figure how you can lose 6 rolls of duct tape in a 24X32 garage.
