Grille shell rivets.....
I have another name for these little buggars but for now hope this helps the next guy doing this.
After getting the outer chrome trim pared with the shell lacing and lined up with the tiny grille holes the pictured Vise-grip GV-10 worked best folding over the ends of these little rivets due to the radius of the jaws not chipping/scratching the finish. |

Re: Grille shell rivets.....
You need to 'splain a little better. Then again, maybe it is only me you left wondering what you are trying to describe.

I believe that you are trying to split the split rivet. Find yourself an old railroad spike. Cut it in half down the middle and then grind the pointed end, so that it is till pointed, but not as pointed as original. You want a point but then the remaining of the pointed end to be fat. This way, the point will go into the split of the rivet, and then with a tap, you will split the rivet so that you can then finish the bending of the ends over. Hope you get the idea. |
