6 volt alternator
I am changing over to a 6 volt alternator. I have seen diagrams and information for 12 volt alternators but not 6 volt ones for my Model A. Can some one guide me where I can find out if someone has done this and what wiring changes I need to make ? Many thanks Tom

No mods needed, take off the generator install the alternator and hook up the one wire. |

Re: 6 volt alternator
Yes, it is easy. Just bolt off the old generator and attach the default wiring at the single stud of the new generator, reworked for the Model-A, you find at the suppliers.
Just had the problem, that I lost the pulley of the new generator after the first 10 miles. I recommend to fix its nut with loctide. My 30 Amps alternator works great, it is still charging with lights and wipers on, the horn is much stronger, the light much more bright.

Don't over tighten your belt. Just tight enough to operate the alternator.

Re: 6 volt alternator
question : who makes the 6v alternator that looks like a generator or its made to fit inside the generator case?
i know all the benefits of an alternator but personally i think the look of the alternator detracts from the car... can i have the best of both worlds? (generator style alternator)

Re: 6 volt alternator
I used the Powermaster that looks close to stock.
I am VERY happy with its performance. I like that I do not need to keep adding distilled water to the battery, like I did with my generator. I typically go to cruise nights in the daylight, and drive home in the dark. Good luck;
