Default Starter springs/bolts/locks Q

I have two NOS Ford starter springs , one in Ford box, other box disintregrated. I've been wondering, if these springs fit all Model A starters and maybe flathead V8s , or just specific yrs ? Reason for asking..got to put in correct swap area(s).

The letter B means its its for the 4cylinder model B engine which is interchangeable with all but the earliest model As. sorry but I do not know about V8s.

You can find more information in the Ford Complete Green Book 1928-1948, pages 493 thru 497.

All except 60 hp till 48---probably to 53 ---but there may be some drives the bolts don't fit

I'm not up on the early Ford V8's, but I thought the springs were wound the other direction?
Do they mount from the rear and spin the other direction?

The springs you have will not fit the early BR Bendix drives that fit the 1/2" shafts.
