Mallory distributor cap help
Hey guys,
I took my Mallory dual point distributor 2572101 out to reset the points. Actually I was planning to replace them with a new set I had purchased from Napa. Unfortunately they were the wrong ones. The original points looked good so I reset them to 20, they were both at 10 when I first measured. Everything went back together fine except for the crab style distributor cap wouldn’t go back on. I can’t get the clips on either side to clip into the cap. I had this problem the last time I took the distributor out. That time I solved the problem by taking the distributor back out, numbering all the spark plug wires and removing the crab style cap and attached it to the distributor on the bench. Then I replaced the distributor and replaced the spark plug wires. I don’t want to do that every time. Any of you experienced this problem? Any tricks to get the two together without all the rigmarole. Richard |
