I have the same rear sump oil pan that I bought in 1964 on my 8BA in my 40. It is a rear sump oil pan that came off a 1949-53 Merc. That pan was needed in order to have tie rod clearance. I welded the lug nut to the oil pan drain bolt to make easier access. Those studs on your pan are for a bracket that mounts there. I think Ford pickups also used it.
Look at these oil pans for comparison.

The '48-'52 Ford trucks with the common 3" cast iron 1/2 bell had a rear sump oil pan with a threaded bracket on the lower rear of the sump. Two lower bolts connected the bell through the starter plate to this pan bracket.

The '49-'50 (and some '51) Mercurys with the 3" stamped steel 1/2 bell had the 3-stud bracket on the bottom of the rear sump pan that bolted to an angle bracket on the Merc starter plate.

Ford Motor must have felt more support was needed when using these 3" bells.
