Default '30 CCPU Interior wood, Houson we have a problem

I am in the process of making all new interior panels for my truck and today I came across this mess. The interior wood, the header I believe it is called, is completely rotten and is a mess. Additionally, the rear most piece is broken at the bend on the drivers side of the cab. I've never messed with the wood and it looks like the original wood was poorly reused. What exactly is the best way to approach this problem? Also I am hoping that whatever I do won't require me to paint at all, will it?

I would start by taking the top material and the visor off and doing a further inspection, if you think that is necessary. The front header needs to be replaced. Other damaged wood needs to be replaced or repaired. When all of the wood problems are solved a new top can be installed. There might be some touch up painting required but probably not much.

Buy the header! Don't attempt to make it. It is far too complicated for a first timer to make yourself. Good Luck!

I won't be making it myself as I am too far away from home and my father's woodshop. However, I'm sure I could handle it but I'd make it out of teak due to its weather resistant properties. And honestly for only $100 bucks it saves me time just buying it. I'm assuming the top must be removed to get the header out correct? Also on the '30 CCPU how are the front and rear seems to the roof supposed to be finished? Mine don't appear to have any molding or hide em welt unless it's buried until sealant...
