Default Any good ways to put holes in frame webbing?

Getting ready to put the holes in my webbing and I remember on my last car it was a BEAR. Anyone have a good technique they are willing to share?

Thanks in advance.

I bought an inexpensive hole punch from Ace hardware. Other sources: Tandy Leather, Fastenall.

As Tim mentioned, a hole punch works great. Make sure it's sharp

Cheap Harbor Freight set of hole punches and a block of hardwood to punch on.

What they said. Hardwood is important.

I was taught to use the hard wood on the end grain when punching gaskets. I guess a hand held multiple punch will work also.

Vice grips on a small section of 1/2 inch copper works well.I heat the pipe up with a propane torch and burn a nice clean hole through the webbing.

stretch the webbing out on the frame and secure the ends, take a piece of chalk and find the holes and mark them with a piece of chalk, while the webbing is still on the frame slip a piece of hard wood under webbing and punch the holes right there, that way you can correct any that might get off, use a slightly bigger punch to get some play to make it easier to install the bolts

Usually everyone has a bunch of extra brass hose barbs that come in kits in various sizes. Which I personally don't throw away.

Some wood, a hammer, and a couple hose barbs. Most likely all these things you might already have stashed in your garage. Works really well when making gaskets too.

I like this idea and will try this next time. It would seal the hole in the webbing. No frays.

Ford used it at least through the '38 model year.
