Default where can I buy a float valve without entire rebuild kit?

I have a'48 Merc and need a float valve. Bought a rebuild kit from a well-thought-of source and the needle has a rubber tip that won't drop down out of its seat. Where can I buy a valve assembly without buying the entire gasket, etc kit? It's a 2 barrel 94 with 59 cast into the body. All tags and other ID are long gone.

Try Uncle Max, Max Musgrove(sp?). He is a member here, so look him up in members list, and send him a PM or email.

See this is your first post, welcome to Fordbarn. Might want to put your location, might be a member near you that has what you need.

You have a Ford carb, Max usually deals in Strombergs. If he does not have the float
valve, I have some NOS . Brass seat, stainless needle.

I don't think uncle Max would lie either. Both an asset to Ford Barn.

Isn't it pretty common for the rubber (viton ?) To be a little stubborn to drop out of the seat? I think usually the fuel pump will push it out of the way.

Agree. It is the fuel pressure that opens the valve.

Here is an interesting valve I have seen.

Besides Charlie ny and Uncle Max mentioned previously, keep in mind DAYTONA PARTS as shown in the link above for ALL of your carburetor rebuild parts......the QUALITY stuff, much of it available a la carte. DD

Thanks for the welcome to the forum.
I installed the carb today with the "rubber" needle. Don't know if fuel pump preessure pushed it open but it runs. Thanks for the variety of advice I see on this site.
