Default temp sending unit removal

Once the threaded nut is removed from the sensor in the head is the bulb part supposed to be able to come straight out?

Don't want to break anything but it does not seem to want to come out. Any tricks?

Yep, should just come out. Most likely has a sediment build up around it.

If you are trying to remove a stock Ford sender, they are all one piece and should come out all together. The capillary tube of a mechanical gauge does have a nut holding the bulb in, but the bulb should pull out once the nut is removed.

You might get a dental pick or some small pointed instrument and gradually and gently scrap around the edge, between the block and the bulb and remove any crud that has settled in there. A very gentle tap or two on the head where the bulb rests may also loosen up some crud. Don't tap on the bulb as you may damage it.

In order to prevent possible costly damage, drain coolant and remove radiator hose and push the bulb out from inside the water pump neck.

Suppose if this is a '36 engine from inside the "water pump neck" would work. If it's a '37 then that would probably work also.

Yeah, there is a KR Wilson tool that does lift the bulb out.

I had made my own little tool. Just a long bolt with a shot piece of metal on it to go under the bulb so I could put some upwards pressure.

I suppose a small heel bar would have worked if I had a small enough one.
