1941 shock absorber removal
I’m trying to remove the original shock absorbers on my 41 Deluxe business coupe. Im finding it impossible to remove the link where it is bolted to the axle. I can remove the nut but the ball joint bolt will not come out.

Re: 1941 shock absorber removal
You have a ev-8 club nearby for help. Could can soak the end in Kroil of other penetrant. With a heady short-handled hammer pound on the end of the arm inward. Do not pound on the treads. be careful! tough job

Re: 1941 shock absorber removal
I loosen the nut a couple threads(leave nut in place), place a wood block between the frame and shock arm close to the end with the nut and hit the nut stoutly. unless it's been on for ever it should pop loose. I also put anti-seize compound on the taper before reinstalling.

Re: 1941 shock absorber removal
Don't buy the harbor freight tool its to short to work, get a different brand. On my '41 my links were damaged already so one of them I cut in half them pounded it out. I also used a small pickle fork to remove the other. I bought replacement links from Dennis Carpenter.
