Re: pre-bent brake line kit - 39/40 Ford quality
I bought some gravel guard spring a while back for future use; but I think it is plain steel; I like the idea of the cad plating on Mike's.
Another option; a friend bought some stainless guard on Amazon; he used it along with that ni-cop brake line. It looked "pretty" and probably added extra protection to that soft flimsy stuff. |

Tim, I hear ya. What Micheal knows about these cars is mind blowing. When I'm on a project and call him, my list gets longer too.

Re: pre-bent brake line kit - 39/40 Ford quality
I always make my own lines. On the last several sets I have used the copper Nickel. It comes in all different sizes but for these old Fords I used what Henry used 1/4". It is inexpensive and corrosion resistant and very easy to work with. A 25' roll will do a whole car with some extra left over or in case you make a few mistakes. I use a tubing straightener as well. You can buy it online or from your local parts store. I have purchased both ways although the local parts store was much more expensive but when I told them what I could purchase it for online they matched the price.
Here it is on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015YGR5KM...NsaWNrPXRydWU= |

Re: pre-bent brake line kit - 39/40 Ford quality
I ordered a 32 kit from Lacy - his brake lines were all perfect . . . really well done. His work is exceptional . . . you'll pay for it . . . but this is one case where you DO GET what you pay for.
I've recently bee using the NiCop brake line - easy to bend, doesn't rust and works really well. Now I know it has a bit of a copper color and some guys don't like that . . . your choice. Also, if you use NiCop (it comes in a roll), buy a little tubing straightener - works really well for the longer runs. I double flare it and everything comes out really nice. |

Re: pre-bent brake line kit - 39/40 Ford quality
It was not uncommon for the OEM brake lines to be copper clad steel. The copper kept the corrosion at bay for a long time. A lot of aircraft internal engine parts are copper plated just for this reason.
