Default 29 Pickup Wood Storage Box

I would like to build a wood storage box for my Closed Cab P.U.
Has anyone done this or have photos or plans of one?

Thanks,

Barkleydave

Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but it works for me. It'll hold a folding chair, some tools and odds and ends. I use two locks that are keyed alike for security. The Ford logo is an LED third stoplight.

Here's one I built. I covered it with top material and used trunk hardware. It has enough room for tools, a few spare parts and a jug of water. I mounted the box to wood strips secured using existing bed carriage bolt holes. Easy project.

Good luck with yours,

Dan

I don't have a picture, but I went to Home Depot and purchased a black storage tub with a hinged lid for about $20

I saw one a few years ago in Canada. It was a fruit growing area and he had made a box with a hinged lid, then put boards from fruit boxes on it and the ends with labels so that it looked like a stack of fruit boxes. Brilliant!

Here's mine.

The box is cheap cedar fence slats, rough, no sanding, no finish. Sadly, I have not yet found suitable antique hinges and hasp, but those will come. The box is carriage-bolted to the bed. Inside is everything modern. Outside is everything period. Cost: $25

The padlock is 1920's Yale. There's a nice fellow on eBay who won't rip you off. He picked this exact lock for my application. It's attractive and sturdy. Will last forever. Two period-correct keys included. Cost: $35.

It's an accessory that goes into a hitch receiver and plugs into a 4 wire trailer plug. Will post some photos tomorrow

I built mine out of the same wood as the posts and rails so they would match. It is white oak and looks fabulous !

This very sanitary solution to the problem you are considering. The Open Pickup is frequently at Rockford A's Sharon Wisconsin Model A Day. The topper is covered with long grain top material. The system is secure, sheds water, and looks very cool.

Wayne,
I used "sanitary solution' to describe the neat, clean, simple design. It is a figure of speech. I am not referring to a W.C. or septic field.

Very nice stash you have in your PU.

Yes, a very common term we yanks use frequently, especially when speaking of a nicely done car.

Bruce, thanks for the photo of the OCPU in black. I was wavering on my color decision, but that cinches it. Just see too many in green.

Not so fast. Black is easy and cool if you have a limo service. But if you get Rock Moss right it is almost black. Nothing better for a commercial. But be careful, too much yellow and you've blown it.
