Default fixing leather seats

Dose anyone have a fix for cracked leather seats. The seats are 40 years old and are showing wear at the pleat stitching. Would shoe polish work, or saddle soap? Thanks for the help. Ed Saniewski

kiwi shoe polish is wonderful for leather, but you will be wearing it on your cloths.

saddle soap does soften the leather, but with no color.

may want to try Lexol, which is made for rejuvenating leather.

I once attended a workshop on restoration. The speaker started out by saying " Any grease monkey can change their oil or their muffler but it takes a professional to work with leather "! Since that day I don't even think about working with the leather in my cars. Off they go to a professional ! Wayne

is the stitching coming undone or is the leather hard and cracking feeding the leather over time with saddle soap and a soft damp cloth could work -it does on my almost 100 year old motorcycle seats . Cotton stitching breaking is a problem that is tougher and requires re stitching.

From my British sports car days, we used a product called "Connolly's hide food". This stuff did an amazing job of bringing back dried, cracked leather. Soaked into the leather completely, no residue to get on your clothes. Now if your stitches are pulling out, that's another story. Time to find an old school upholsterer. Good luck.

The stitching seems good, it is just cracking. Someone told me Neet's foot oil might rejuvenate it.

There seems to be a lot of information on the web. This one includes filling in the leather cracks.
