39/40 window regulator question
I've got a 40 coupe that has been modified into a full window on both doors.
Would 39 regulators work for now until I can get the original wind wing supports and regulators? |

Re: 39/40 window regulator question
I don't think the mounting holes are the same. I looked it up, but it didn't tell me much.

Me? I'd find the '40 stuff and bring it back to "original".

Re: 39/40 window regulator question
Thanks...
I plan to bring it back to original once I find the parts, but got a few more critical parts ahead of the windows.... I just want to get rid of the electric window set up for now and still be able to use the windows. Thanks for your help... Tom |

What do you have? Did both the standard and deluxe have wind wings? Thanks... Tom |

Re: 39/40 window regulator question
Just a personal preference and opinion, but I like the '39 style. I had a '40 with late model
Ford drive line and we traveled a good bit in it. The windows had an annoying wind noise above 60 that I was never able to correct. I have a '38 now with the one-piece windows and much prefer the windows in it. |

Re: 39/40 window regulator question
40CPE...
In your opinion.... is the one piece window something that works in a 40 for just kicking around and having fun in? This project will never be a show car... I am not as concerned with being 100 percent correct now, I just want a driver or a grocery getter ... maybe later when I'm retired and have more time and money, I might want to go a full period correct restoration. |

Re: 39/40 window regulator question
As I said, I was running at interstate speeds when the wind noise bothered me. Kicking around town shouldn't be a problem with either style. If the car already has the one-piece and it doesn't bother you, it would be less expense and exertion to leave it be. My opinion, YMMV. Don't shoot me Kube.

Re: 39/40 window regulator question
Yes,but the garnish is different. The right side that I have is for a deluxe, you can use it on a standard. If you bought a left side for a deluxe then it would match.
