I only collect random small stuff as that's all I can afford and have room for!

I'm with Marco. I collect small items, jewelry items as I call them such as original hub caps, valve stems and covers, coils, anything rubber (orig hoses, door check straps, etc), gas and radiator caps, original (NOS) wiring, original fasteners, pot metal window cranks and inside door handles, powerhouse generators and related parts, tail lamp glass, terminal boxes and covers, plus some VE-28 items as extras for my Coupe project.

Would repro parts that don't work or fit count?

When I moved I found that I had 5 transmissions, I guess if I put like things together I would get a better handle on what I have and what I might need!

I try to keep the parts I will need to keep my A on the road from minor breakdowns. So, I have spare:

generator, starter, water pump, wheel, tubes, carb, bulbs, fan belt. Also in my collections are the usual nuts & bolts, cotter pins, oil, grease, etc.

For many years I have had model T's and my collection of those parts borders on the rediculous.

Periodicly I sell off all the stuff that accumulates in the barn, but always shortly thereafter I find I need something I just sold. A man has as much stuff as he has room for, plus 10%.

Let's see....... I have about 8 zeniths, 6 starters, 3 powerhouse gen(I run alternators on both my A's) lots of gaskets, 3 radiator shells, half a dozen water pumps and distributors, 20 rotors and caps. 50 assorted door handles 8 trans cases, 3 transmissions and crap loads of other stuff. It's a sickness.

I pick up any thing A that I can find. The scrap boys around town bring anything over they they think might be A.Engines with transmissions used to be about $15,and it saved them from making a 25 mile round trip the the yard. With frag up over $200.per ton they are worth over $50.I even take rotted body parts, somebody can always use a 3 inch section of a fender. Most body parts I keep, except Fordor parts.I sold a fellow some slant doors last summer,I wasn't going to use them and he had a use for them.I had some odd parts over the years that I have sold,or really placed with people that had a use for them.If they wanted them to just look at I would just keep them,I can shelve them myself.Steve Ciccalone got a brass/bronze distributer,an early light switch dial that was marked on/off,and some early odd door handles from me.All that either went on his cars or went to others with early cars that he dealt with.Right now I'm low on wheels and wiper motors. Those are things I had so many of that I traded, sold,or gave away.I have a couple of 5 gallon buckets of B carbs,I didn't set out to collect them,I wanted one or two to use on my own cars but I wound up buying them on the cheap at the Amherst flea market over the years.I have generators stacked up like little piles of cordwood, those came from people going to alternators.

Got a box full of carbs and water pumps. (I'm tired of rebuilding water pumps! Always keep 'em handy! )

I also like interesting Model A accessories, speed goodies, and oddities.

For instance... How about this unusual prototype Holley Model A carb that never went into production.....

I also can't pass up a good decklid at a swap meet.

I got rid of everything large or heavy when we moved up from FL.
after almost 2 years, it's starting to accumulate again.......
somehow I'm a sucker for commercial headlight buckets- bought a pair at 2 consecutive national meets even though I have no trucks. have lots of brake parts, distributors & water pumps, a few horns &c &c &c.....

There are many other little known variations.
I also know way too much about the history of the McKee glass company!

Yeah, I collect other stuff, too.
About 2000 sq.ft. full to the ceiling in three buildings.

Thank you all , I am not alone.... I feel much better.....At one point i had a lot of n.o.s. Ford point sets. [35 or so] .Gave some of them away one time.Got tired looking at all the parts so i started with something small. My idea is if i kept all these points ,sooner or later someone will come out with a set better. 2 parts i will not part with is Backup Deluxe Phaeton luggage rack and rear apron. I seen a club member with a 180a got hit in the ass and got the luggage rack , rear fender[ which i have 3 pairs extra l.o.l.] and the rear apron smashed . It has become a nightmare looking at that car in the body shop...
