Seat backrest question
I am getting ready to install the upholstered backrest on my 28 special coupe. The coupe has a trunk, not a rumble seat. The question I have is: Did Ford install a backing material to cover the back of the springs. I believe on coupes and roadsters with rumble seats, a backing material, similar to the cowl panels, was used to "finish" the rumble area along with the two side panels. Steve Plucker and I believe that the back was originally covered with a material similar to the cowl panels on cars with trunks, but we are not 100% sure. If anyone has an original 28/29 coupe or roadster with a trunk, would you please post whether your car has a covering over the seatback or not.

Re: Seat backrest question
I covered that in the Standards back in 1988 (and I'm quite sure it's still there). All models had a "seat back cardboard". It would match the rumble seat option of that particular model. Since '28-29 rumble seats were Spanish brown colonial grain that means ALL applicable models had the Spanish brown colonial grain seat back cardboard whether it had a rumble seat or trunk.

Re: Seat backrest question
Thanks for the reply, Marco. I didn't see anything about the seatback backing in the JG's. I did notice the JG's indicated anti-drum material on the inside of the quarterpanels, which I have on my coupe. You have been a big help on my recent questions.

Re: Seat backrest question
Page 12-2, column 2, last paragraph. It does look like I need to improve the wording however.
